Privacy Policy
Effective September 24, 2026
Bloom is a mindset journaling app for volleyball players. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email us at bloommindsetjournal@gmail.com.
Who Bloom is for
Bloom is for volleyball players ages 10 and up. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 10. If a player is under 13, we get a parent or guardian's permission before that player can create an account.
What we collect
When someone requests an invite: first name, email, age, playing level, how they heard about Bloom, and their email preferences. For players under 13, we also collect a parent or guardian's name and email so we can ask for permission.
When a parent gives permission: the parent's name, email, relationship to the player, typed signature, and the date and time of consent.
When a player uses Bloom: first name, email, sport, practice and workout schedule, journal entries (intentions, reflections, and prompt responses), reminder times, time zone, streaks, and the device permission needed to send notifications.
When a player completes the beta survey: their answers to the survey questions.
Automatically: anonymous usage information, like which features are used. This is not tied to what anyone writes.
We do not collect location, contacts, photos, or payment information.
How we use it
- To run the app, including saving entries and sending reminders
- To manage the beta, including invite codes and the feedback survey
- To contact players, and parents of players under 13, about Bloom
- To improve Bloom based on anonymous usage and survey feedback
We only send news and feature updates to people who opt in, and never to players under 13.
Who can see journal entries
Journal entries are private to the account that wrote them. Other players cannot see them, and the Bloom team does not read them. We do not share entries with parents, coaches, teammates, or anyone else.
Bloom is not monitored and is not a mental health or medical service. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Who we share information with
We never sell information and we do not show ads. We use a small number of service providers to run Bloom. They only handle information to provide their service to us, and they are not allowed to use it for anything else:
- Hosting and secure data storage for accounts and journal entries
- Email, so we can contact players and parents
- Anonymous usage analytics
- Notification delivery, so reminders reach your device
- Record keeping for invite requests and parent permission
We may also share information if the law requires it.
Players under 13
We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Before a player under 13 can create an account, a parent or guardian must give permission through our consent form, and we send the parent a confirmation email afterward. We collect only what is needed to run Bloom.
If we do not receive permission within 10 days of asking, we delete the player's request information.
Parents and guardians of players under 13 can, at any time:
- Ask to see the information we have about their child
- Ask us to delete their child's account and information
- Withdraw permission and stop any further collection
Email bloommindsetjournal@gmail.com to do any of these. We will respond within 7 days.
How long we keep information
- Accounts and journal entries are kept until the account is deleted. Accounts from the beta carry over to Bloom's full launch.
- Invite requests for players under 13 without parent permission are deleted after 10 days.
- Parent permission records are kept so we have a record of what was agreed to, even after an account is deleted.
Deleting an account
Anyone can ask us to delete their account and journal entries by emailing bloommindsetjournal@gmail.com. We will delete them within 7 days and confirm by email.
How we protect information
Journal entries are stored with access controls that let each account see only its own entries. Information is encrypted when it travels between your device and our servers. Invite codes are single use.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use information from players under 13, we will ask parents for permission again.
